Shillong and Cherrapunji are both the part of Meghalaya where it rains for most of the year and experiences very less summers. The weather has made this place one of an enjoyable and most wonderful location to travel in the world. It is one of the most visited place in North East India where the seven sister states exist. Both the cities have some wonderful places where anyone who visits it can be mesmerized with the beauty of it. The State of Meghalaya is known to be cloudy and hence have the name abode of clouds.
The capital of Meghalaya, Shillong is one of the most beautiful and peaceful hill station which is surrounded by mountains, greenery and beautiful water bodies. The drive from Shillong to Cherrapunji is one of the most exotic drive that can ever be found as the journey is filled with lots of attractions. There are some energetic trekking route and beautiful sights to visit. The tour is perfect for adventure, sightseeing and even romantic trips making it one of the most suitable place to visit.
The tour kickstarts when you arrive at Guwahati railway station or airport, where the tour representative will receive you and the journey 110 kms journey to Shillong will start. But before you arrive to Shillong there are various places to see enroute that will leave anyone in awe of the beauty it possesses. One such place is Umiam lake which is large man-made lake in North East India. Finally, Shillong will the final stop for today. You can rest in your hotel, have delicious dinner and a good sleep overnight. Shillong is also known as the Scotland of the East as it has some nice resemblance in architect and even the weather.
The following day after the tour starts, you will be driving to Cherrapunji which is another beautiful place in Meghalaya. The drive is approximately 3 hours long but will have multiple stops. The major stops include Shillong peak, garden of caves, Nohkalikai falls and various other eye-catching marvelous sights. In Cherrapunji there is one of the most amazing trekking route that is made up of roots of living trees and is famously knows as the Double Decker Root bridge. Return to Shillong after trekking and overnight stay in hotel.
Now that you have travelled Cherrapunji and have nice trek in nature, it is time to devote your attention to the beauty of Shillong. Today, you will visit some famous parts of Shillong like Lady Hydari Park which is a Japanese style wildlife park. It has some hundreds of bird species and animals in it with variety of flora and fauna. There are other places like Don Bosco museum and some temples that you can visit.
The tour ends on day 4, check your luggage properly and head to airport or railway station.
